don't call it a comeback! i've been here for years...
Yesterday was indeed a blog-worthy day.
It was even a little difficult to sleep Wednesday night knowing how great the next day was going to be. It was a bit like the night before Christmas. Thursday morning, Monica and I headed to Whitmore Lake to visit Joss, Gwen, Lynn and little Emmett! After a little detour due to my extremely poor sense of direction and a quick stop in Brighton to pick up some Panera lunch for the ladies, we spent the afternoon marveling at the wee man, playing with Gwen, and catching up with Joss. Gwen continues to impress me with how smart and funny she is, and what a vivid imagination she has. She had me cracking up. Little Emmett is painfully sweet and adorable, even (in my opinion, anyway) when he's upset. I got to witness a little pee-geyser-while-diaper-changing event. I thought I might die laughing. :)
After a few hours, Monica and I then headed to Portland to have dinner at Britta's with her, the kids, Dillon, and my Mom and Derek. Another lovely get-together with lots of kiddie-time and conversation. I didn't realize how long it'd been since I've seen everyone! I'd been missing everyone something fierce!
Meanwhile, Jocelyn had given me a glorious, life-sized stand-up of Edward Cullen, which I set up behind the pizzas at the Spitzley house. I knew he was there, and I thought everyone else did too, but I guess he was giving everyone's heart a little jump start every time they went to get another slice. (How appropriate, he had the same effect on Bella's heart...) Oops, my nerd is showing.
It's actually quite beneficial having him around. Since Ben's on tour (today he's in Gainesville, FL at the Harvest of Hope Festival), I set Edward up so that he's visible in the living room window so passers-by will think I have a big, strong man with me and won't try to steal anything. :) At the very least, I feel a little less alone! Not much of a personality, though. More the strong, silent type.
...the dogs don't care very much for him either. They bark at him. (Again, how appropriate! Though I'm not sure domesticated dogs were mentioned as an item on the Cullen's menu...)
:)
